  1. New Profile on New Computer

    Posted 20 Dec 2011

I figured that since we must completely download Profile in order to install the 2011 version that I would treat myself to a new desktop computer. I haven't downloaded a 'complete' and fresh version of the software since probably 2001.

In each of the years since 2001 I have my forms printing configured in the "form selection" area of the software for each of T1, T2, and T3. For each year of T1 and whenever there is a new T2 issued I use the "Carryforward" button to retain all of my custom print sets as well as which forms to print for paper, efile, etc. This carryforward has saved a considerable amount of time over the years in not having to re-configure the printing each year.

In addition to the "Form Selection" area of the software (Options-->Form Selection) I have configured information slip printing (File-->Print Slips Setup) for each of the types of information slips that we file, as well as the Print Setup to configure and direct different forms to different printers as well as the print properties of each year's forms.

I really don't want to go through the pain of having to reconfigure all of these items and was hoping that there is a way of being able to export these parameters for use with the new computer and new installation of Profile.

I haven't used "options administration" in a while now, so that might possibly hold the key to being able to accomplish this.

What I want to do is have a fresh install of Profile on a new, stand-alone desktop computer, with 10 years worth of form selection and print parameters imported from the previous installation.......... essentially the same way you can import and open the client files for all of those years.

Has anyone successfully achieved this without having to set everything up from scratch?
