However, how do you tell a client that you are producing two different figures for him/her and it really doesn't matter???
The really big question though is which is right - the T1 or the T7DR(A). One wonders if Ituit will answer???
We tested all the provinces and this issue seems to be happening with just Alberta and BC returns. We have submitted the problem to our Product Development (PD) Team for fixing.
Thank you for bringing the issue to our attention.

While on hold I read this posting but they responded before I hung up. Same thing. Try again on next update. Maybe Friday. Swell.
I have reported the issue to our Product Development (PD) Team for investigation and fixing. This will be fixed in a future release of ProFile most probably next release version 2011.3.0. -
In Topic: T3 first time roll forward from Tax Prep

KathyC60, on 02 February 2012 - 06:27 PM, said:WE are first time users of Profile, trying to roll forward 2010 T3's from Tax Prep.
We get a "cannot decrypt file" message. Support line says it's a known issue and they are working on it.
We have some tight filing deadlines for T3's, would be nice to be able to start them!
Any suggestions for a work around, or any idea when update will occur? Support couldn't say.
Thank you
Hello KathyC60,
1. Which version of 2011 TaxPrep T3 software was used for saving the T3 file?
2. What is the file extension of the T3 TaxPrep file that you tried carrying forward (.309 or .310)?
"Cannot decrypt file" message, you usually receive when the TaxPrep T3 file is saved using TaxPrep T3 software version that ProFile is unable to decrypt. My suggestion is that you email a copy of the TaxPrep T3 file to pas_support@intuit.com and I will test the carry forward using the next ProFile release version 2011.3.0.
Thank you.

We have just transferred to Profile from Tax Prep and can't roll forward any 2010 T3 returns from Tax Prep.
I've called the support line, they say it is a known issue and they are working on it, but don't have a timeline.
We have some T3 returns that are due Feb 15.
Here is what you need to do to carry forward a 2010 Taxprep T3 File to prepare a 2011 T3 return in ProFile:
1. Make sure that your ProFile software version is 2011.2.0. You can verify this by going to "Help> About" in ProFile.
2. In ProFile click "File" and select "Carry forward" to display carry forward file dialog.
3. On this dialog in the "look in" field, browse to the location where the TaxPrep T3 files are saved,
4. In the location for "Files of type" select the files of type "2011 TaxPrep T3 (*.309, *.310)" to display the TaxPrep T3 files in the box above.
5. Select the file that you need to carry forward.
6. Click on the "Carry forward" radio button to carry forward the selected TaxPrep T3 file.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the issue when you attempt to roll forward a TaxPrep T3 return using ProFile? ProFile will carry forward TaxPrep T3 files with file extensions .309 and .310, that is {2011 TaxPrep[tm] (*.309,*.310)}. By the way "Have you updated ProFile to version 2011.2.0?"
My suggestion is that you email a copy of the TaxPrep T3 file to pas_support@intuit.com to the attention of Hardev for investigation.
Thank you.

In Topic: File conversion from Taxprep

JohnV, on 02 February 2012 - 12:17 AM, said:I think I will need to convert Taxprep datafiles. If all goes right, I will have to file T2s going back several years from a number of companies.
The 2006 T2 will be prepared in Taxprep.
I will have to carryforward that file to 2007 Profile, then onward to 2011..so 4 years of returns per company.
There is scant documentation on the subject.
so my questions
1) when I carryforward the Taxprep 2006 T2 file, will it automatically open Profile T2 2007, or will something else happen??
2) anything I need to be aware of??
3) I use "Basic"...does this complicate things??
My understanding based on your query is that you would like to:
Carry forward a TaxPrep 2006 T2 return for preparing a 2007 year-end T2 return using ProFile and then carry on up with ProFile for preparing later year-ends T2 returns using ProFile software as well.
Answers to your questions are:
Yes, carryforward of a 2006 year-end TaxPrep T2 return will open a 2007 year-end T2 return in ProFile provided there are no unforeseen problems.
ProFile T2 Basic has certain limitations. To view details please click on the link below:

My suggestion is that you email a copy of the 2006 TaxPrep file to pas_support@intuit.com to the attention of Hardev for testing.
Thank you.
