I have reported the issue to our Product Development (PD) Team for investigation and fixing. This will be fixed in a future release of ProFile most probably next release version 2011.3.0.

Since it was not fixed in 2011.3.0 when will it be fixed? We are getting into the time when we need the invoice to work to avoid manual invoice production and tracking.

Does anyone have a solution other than preparing invoices another program?
You could use QuickBooks for invoicing your Profile clients if you set up Profile to upload billing information into QuickBooks. I think all you have to do is have your QB file open and then right click on a Profile billing form for "Create invoice in QuickBooks" option.

Well, I figured out the problem with templates. I have clearly demonstrated it to support so now it is up to Profile developers to fix the bug fast! It only seems to happen when you open the joint template, so a workaround for me is to make sure the joint letter is not opened in the client`s file when the client has no spouse. Once you open a joint template, you have to close Profile and reopen it so that the misassigned variables get correctly reassigned and the logic works again. Just using the client invoice might work for you, too, but it may not be practical for you to create two separate invoices for clients whose returns are coupled.

Thanks for the comments Cameron, we are having the same / similar problem printing a T1 one for a single person. Even though the Field Code is in Blue it will not show up or print on the document. We are using Version 2011.3.1. We tried phoning technical support and the Support Representative put me on hold a number of times to talk to a Senior Programmer representative, when I explained that the field code was blue {valid} and not red {invalid} and this was the same template as we used last year and it was a client we had done last year, she put me on hold and never came back, eventually the line went dead.
I tried then sending an email and received the following reply " ProFile Product Support - Attention Customers: This service is temporarily unavailable. We are here to help you with your ProFile sales and support needs at 1-800-452-9970. We apologize for any inconvenience."
To fix this client, I personalized the document to enter the client name but that is not a good long term solution.

Jim, it does not matter if the field is valid when you save the template. The variable value is destroyed somehow when a joint template is simply displayed on screen or if the client file was previously saved while a joint template had been displayed. Try closing any joint form that is open in the client file, saving the client file, closing Profile, restarting Profile and reopening the client file. The reassignment of the variable when you reopen Profile should fix the problem until you again display a joint letter or similar form.

The newest version appears to deal primarily with Ontario returns and the Trillium Benefit.....
