We have been using Profile since it inception, don't even remember when but it was owned by Greenpoint and started by 2 fellas who split from Cantax. every year we have problems in the beginning, but this has been by far the worst year! we process upwards of 2500 T1s, not to mention the hundreds of T2's, and we have now lost almost a whole week trying to get this program operating. we are on a network, but different systems on workstations. we have XP, W7 Home, W7 Pro. the only ones that have had LESS problems are the XP's. W7 Home completely unusable, had to upgrade to Pro and still countless exception errors to the point where we completely put that workstation aside and set up a new XP workstation for that employee to at least be able to do SOME work. W7 Pro, so many problems that it now is out on a service call because it completely fried to the point of not being able to boot up anymore.

I have lost at least $3000 in lost time and that's not including the $3000 cost of PROFILE!!!

Absolutely unbelievable, and unacceptable! i am giving Profile gurus one more day to come clean on this program or else it back to CANTAX.

The Profile team has at least since May last year to INFORM the existing users all its program's major platform change (to MS .Net XXX, SOAP connector, etc.) this year so the users can participate in this upgrade much sooner than the personal income tax season. It is the lesson to be learned at the expenses of both sides now. Hope all can be resolved in days.

Like you, I went through all this but a week earlier. See another thread. Perhaps my solution would work for you. We have Profile & data on our new server (windows 2011) and use W7 workstations. I hooked up an old XP to the server and installed v2011.2.0 with no trouble (after hours wasted trying with W7). Then the Workstation Install worked on all stations (had to turn off the User Account Control.....turned it back on after workstation installed). Everything on Profile seems to be working for the past week....although we are still having major bumps with the new server/stations (nothing to do with Profile). It's very exasperating trying to hit the ground running in early January and you feel like you don't know what you're doing. I would have liked some input from Profile people when I was posting to the other thread though.

Have tried to install on Windows XP and Vista - disasters both times. Catastrophic failure, access violation, etc. Have new computers coming in this week with Windows 7. By sounds of it, you almost had better luck with XP?? I may have to rethink my strategy.

Hi annt

I have gone back to Cantax. Profile has refunded my money as you have 60 days from receipt of program to get a full refund. i was extremely dissappointed with Profile for their lack of help. why they would 'revamp' a perfectly good program is beyond me! Tax time is too stressful a time to start trying new stuff! We have had a bit of a learning curve to relearn Cantax, but they are similar. There are definitely aspects of Profile that we miss, but there are some great features in Cantax that Profile doesn't address, such as the amount for Ont Trillium Benefit to be received, which is a huge strike out for Profile as younger filers as well as low income filers are wondering where their refunds have gone. We can at least tell them how much they will receive monthly later in the year.

Best of luck to all.

Thanks. I have bought new computers, windows pro7 and have IT coming tomorrow for install. My computers were old (6 yrs) and in a desparation move wondered if over time some of the registries had become corrupt, migrates not worked, etc. Guess I will know tomorrow. Here's hoping was the right decision....... Good luck with Cantax - Hopefully not to big of a relearning curve for you.

Ann
