On the "Product Installation & Updates" thread, Tim Parris was kind enough to write:

In order to update to 2011, you have to download the new version of profile from the website. The updater does not handle the upgrade from 2010 to 2011.

I have just downloaded the 2011.1.0 version from the Download site. It is 336 MB and the updating process forced me to install Microsoft.NET Framework 4 (maybe others don't need this).

A reboot was necessary, then there was a security warning that the program does not have a digital signature.

The entire download, reboot, install process took about 15 minutes in total.

As a long time user of ProFile, I have always relied on the Updater. I thought other users might find this information useful, especially knowing not to start the download process unless you have 15 minutes to finish and can reboot.

I know that's not a lot of time in the grand scheme of things, but it's quite a bit more involved than just checking for updates.

We received an email saying that this is a different procedure, in that a full install is needed and not done through an update.

Haven't installed the 2011 yet, waiting to hear what others have to say. Thanks for the info. Still waiting for more reaction. Was there anything out of the ordinary in the installation of the new program? Any functionality issues with prior years?

I saw a functionality problem listed on the forum about print profiles being reset. Apparently there was a major meeting on Friday about this.
