I own a hair salon I have no other employees but myself and I was on maternity leave from Sept 2010 to March 2011.
I had no income for the months I was on maternity leave but may I still claim expenses for the months that I had no income?

In which respect you are asking this? This is the ProFile Accounting Community which is generally focused on individuals who prepare taxes for compensation. As an owner of a hair salon, you are unlikely to be using ProFile to prepare taxes, simply because of its cost.

If your question was how to report this using TurboTax, may I suggest that you post the question in the TurboTax forums as they are structured to handle tax questions by DIYs using TurboTax?
If your question was how to handling your bookkeeping using QuickBooks, may I suggest that you post the question in the QuickBooks forums as they are structured to handle bookkeeping questions by DIYs using QuickBooks?

As a question posed by an owner of a business in this forum, the general answer provided would be to ask your accountant. Any other answer could be at odds with your accountant's set up of your books and would be unprofessional.
