Have had a couple of returns refused to be transmitted to CRA for deceased clients. One was for a death in 2011 and one for a death in 2010. Both files are 2010 tax years. Have the date of death on the return. CRA tells me it is a problem with the software that both of these should be able to be Efiled.
The error I get says "Failed. We have detected problems ... unable to process this file..... problems with the T1 General, the Selected Financial Data (SFD) or with both..... please contact your software developer.
Has anyone had experience with this? Suggestions appreciated.

We do not EFile any Final T1 to date of death for the simple reason that there are attachments, such as a probated will with the listing of assets and liabilities that have to be sent in as well.
Why send in the will by itself and risk it not being matched up to the T1 by CRA?
We mail in the T1 for the deceased in all cases for that simple reason, together with the authorization; so we have not tried to EFile returns for the deceased, at all and don't expect to in the near future, until we can attach the will and send that too!
That's our suggestion to save time and have zero frustration with EFile for "dead guys".
