I have a client who worked form most of 2010 in Africa for his MB employer and meets the criteria for the overseas tax credit but the Profile software did not complete the calculation at the bottom of the form to give the appropriate tax credit. I had the core amounts calculating correctly which was essentially 60,000/120000 X 22,000 which should have given me $11,000, but it calculated to zero. Is this a flaw in the system?

Perhaps you should look at the form closely to determine the steps that are being taken. One of those steps is causing the issue but the problem may well be ten cm in front of the screen. I know I've felt pretty dumb sometimes when I follow what the computer does.

Hi TMS,

Perhaps you didn't complete Part 1 of the form? For example, if you didn't answer "yes" to question A to D, then the credit won't calculate.

Hi Peter. Yes, the top of the form was completed. Surprisingly, when I reopened the return, I undid the override and voila, the correct value is in the proper field. Frustrating when it does that!

Thanks for all your help.
