Now that we've had a couple weeks of preparing T1's I'm wondering if other people have suggestions for changes/improvements. I have a few in mind but I'll start with one.

On the BILLING form, the last two rows on the form (the Brief version) show last year's fee. However, it shows last year's fee BEFORE tax and disbursements. I'd like to see last year's fee AFTER disbursements because I use those disbursement lines to add things to the fee such as itemizing tax returns done for kids, T1032 calculations, etc. When I'm doing a current year billing it's important to know what I billed the client last year. The current setup ignores extras that I billed in the previous year.

I'm sure there are many other changes/improvements but that's mine for today.

I agree Dunner, we do the same thing. I also use that line to itemize any discounts I might give. Right now I have to use the right click - previous years return method to check the actual total of last years return and any extra fees that we might charge on a regular basis to that client. It's not a complaint because the information is available to me.... it's just time consuming and inconvenient when logic dictates it should be as you described.

How about a compare bill format like the Summary: Current year column, previous year column, with no current year data entry option for N/A items such as the 2009 HRTC?

I have Profile print the bill to PDF when I print the tax return. Next year, I look at the archived version.

Great suggestion Dunner and while we are "polishing the diamond" I would appreciate a couple of decimal places on the seniors discount so I can get whole dollar amounts for the total bill.

Hi all,

I just wanted to add a general note... our "off-season" is a great time to highlight product suggestions/improvements since that is when we generally have a bit more time to work on product enhancements. Once July/August rolls around, the CRA keeps us pretty busy with the new forms for next year, so the earlier we hear an idea, the better.

If you have ideas, even if they are ideas you have requested before, we would like to hear them. :)

So, Peter, when is your "off-season"? This is the best time for us to make suggestions.

One suggestion I have relates to the use of your SDK. There doesn't appear to be a way to identify whether a return has been prepared for a spouse. I have an Excel macro that compares invoices between this year and the prior year. It runs great except for returns where we haven't prepared a return for the spouse. I would appreciate the addition of a flag that can be checked as to whether a return for the spouse has been done or not. I realize this is a pretty specific suggestion and might not benefit a large group of people but I have realized the number of people using the SDK seems to be growing each year. Obviously, if your programmers think this would be redundant then maybe they can suggest how this situation can be approached in VBA code. Thanks

Hi Dunner,

Now, and the next few months, are a great time to make suggestions for next year. We are always listening to suggestions, regardless of when they are made, but we have the greatest opportunity to work on enhancements during our off-season. So please continue to make suggestions. :)

So how long does it take to get a mandatory CRA form into the software (any module/all modules)?

Since there doesn't appear to be a forum for the T3 program and since I'm doing a pile of them this weekend I'll post my suggestion here.

I'd like to suggest that the T3 program put in a comparative schedule like the T1 and T2 programs and a "Slips" form to see what slips are/have been reported.

When reviewing returns I often go to the "slips" form to check off the information entered. Unfortunately that form doesn't allow you to use the various review marks. Allowing those checkmarks to show on the Slips form would make it easier to review returns.

Hi,

Just a small update on this request. The RC199 is now within our development system to review for possible future inclusion within our FX module.

Hi, I love your products, and use Business Incorporated, Personal, and Intuit's Quickbooks. My biggest challenge is the tiny fonts used in your interface, such as Easystep. Moreover, one cannot make them larger. Not everyone wants to wear their reading glasses all day. Perhaps you can address this for next year's version? Thanks!

Since CRA rounds to the nearest dollar when they do the assessments, is it possible for Profile to round the T1 return to the nearest dollar, or provide an option to do so? I found the option for the T3 and the T2 is rounded now, why not the T1?
