Since ProFile is included in our textbook, Byrd & Chen's Canadian Tax Principles, and I don't use the software for professional filing, I monitor the forums only sporadically.
In my review of the last month of posts, I was impressed to see that Peter@Intuit has been responding quickly and very professionally on this forum. That greatly increases the value of this forum to me as, besides checking for general interest, I am checking that program problems that may cause students and instructors stress when they use the program, are being corrected quickly.
It also means that users will post serious queries here as they are likely to be dealt with promptly.
I know that Intuit has always monitored the forum, but I have the feeling that Peter (I assume that is his name and not an alias), is keeping a closer eye on the questions and responding more fully.
I also have the impression that the forum has become more... civil and helpful. In some past years, the forum was not always good reading for me because of the animosity that tainted some of the responses.
I just wanted to note here that I think this forum is a very valuable resource, with some extremely competent and helpful users (you know who you are). Peter@Intuit has made this an even better tool. Thanks to all who help others.

Ida,
Thanks for the kind words.
It seems that I am confirming answers that are already given by our knowledgeable users, and providing additional insight that we have learned from our dealings with the CRA or explaining more fully how a particular calculation/form in Profile was developed.
As part of the development team, we tend to pop up more frequently once our forms development "busy season" is nearing its conclusion to help in any way we can with questions/issues that you may be having in the home stretch.
Peter

In response to a message about my post that was sent to me privately, I want to make it very clear that I do not receive any compensation at all from Intuit and there was no ulterior motive for my post.
If the praise was offensive to others as well, I apologize.
I'll stick to writing about tax in our textbook in the future.

Hi Ida. I'm not sure who would have sent you such a message but I would be disappointed if professionals such as yourself abandoned this type of forum which, although it carries some "baggage" as do many internet forums, does serve a worthwhile purpose. I would understand your position but hope you reconsider.

Thank you Dunner for your reply. There are a lot of good people on this forum and I must admit that I was still a little stunned when I posted here last night. Now I just feel saddened by the experience.
Maybe I'm too sensitive (my husband would snort derisively at that notion), but I hated the feeling I got as I read the implication that I am nuts, asleep and a paid employee of Intuit.
As a warning to anyone else who might consider posting something good about Intuit here, this is what was sent to me privately. Since it was not posted for everyone else to see, I will not reveal the poster's name.
Your "Thank You Peter" post
??????
Are you nuts???????
Intuit have BANNED almost all professional accountants, insulted the rest, and the rest of the professional accountants are now not posting here anymore in disgust, and have moved to private (non-Intuit) boards), and are moving away from Intuit products.
Apparently you have been asleep recently.....
As for "peter@intuit" he has posted a few times, then disappeared.
Your post, on the other hand, sounds like you are a paid employee of Intuit....

Ida,
Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge the efforts of the intuit staff and quality of the board.
I, like other professionals, would not want to see you leave this grouping or stop having the profile product as a part of your content.

Intuit gets raked over the coals in this forum quite regularly for faults real and/or perceived. I think we should also offer our thanks and appreciation when appropriate. If they get the "beefs" they should also get the "bouquets".
Ida, I'm amazed anyone would do that to you. I'm sorry it happened.

Wow, what a difference a day makes. I've been avoiding this forum because I was afraid there would be another undeserved attack that would ruin my day.
Instead, you've all made my day. Thanks to all who posted in this thread.

Online verbal attack (& counter-attack) seems to be more & more common these days so I choose to ignore it & move on. Stay happy.
