I have a related group of about 12 companies. This year we have to file a S516 to allocated the Capital Deduction amongst the companies.

In past years, we have used the Intuitive paste and copy to ensure that all the necessary information for the election (Federal and Ontario) has been shared properly between the companies. The copy/paste always worked fine.

This year things have changed since there is not longer a separate Ontario return.

I am finding that the intuitive copy and paste is NOT working. It is not transferring information from company to company.

And yes, from having done this for many years, I do know that I have to copy and paste throughout the various companies, and more than once, in order to ensure that all of the info distributes to all of the companies.

But I am finding that practically no information is rolling into the next company as I copy/paste.

Does anyone know if this feature is no longer working, or if there is some box that I may be failing to tick to get this feature working properly?

Thanks,

Update... as I continue to wrestle with this problem.....

The Intuitive Paste/Copy DOES seem to be working, except...

I am working on a group of 12 corporations. Let's call them A, B, C, D, E, etc.

On company A, I went to the RAC detail page for EACH of the 11 other companies and entered ALL of the information needed.

I then tried to use Intuitive Paste/Copy to move this information from the RAC details pages of Company A to that of Company B.

The paste/copy was successful, except that the information for company A itself was not drawn from the various sections of Company A and then pasted to the RAC schedule in Company B for Company A.

I had to enter the Company A information into the RAC schedule on Company B.

I then tried to use Intuitive Paste/Copy to paste the RAC information from Company B to Company C. The same problem occurred... all of the information pasted properly to the RAC schedules in Company C, except nothing was pasted into the RAC schedule relating to Company B.

The fault is obvious. Because there is no RAC schedule for Company A in its own tax file, the company A information is not transferred to Company B when a paste/copy is performed. This problem did NOT occur a year ago when I was using whatever was the then then current version of Profile T2.

So my solution.

Use Intuitive Paste/Copy to copy RAC details from Company A to each of the other companies, and then enter the Company A information into the RAC schedule on each of the other 11 companies.

Also, if I make any changes to one company that will affect the RAC details on the other companies, I will have to consider the best way to move that information to the other companies.

This apparent fault has turned a previously simple procedure (which made life a LOT easier, thank you) into a very long process which is easily susceptible to error.
