Living in Calgary. I want to learn how to use Basic and probably Premier. I have an undergrad degree in business. Can anyone train me how to use Profile-- I have accountants wishing to pay me file for them.

There is a textbook vendor who posted about his book on how to use ProFile in the last couple of months.
But using the software and understanding how to prepare taxes are two separate things. Would you know if a donation to the US Red Cross be a charitable donation? Would you know if a husband gives his wife a lump-sum payment as support, do you need to declare that as taxable income to the wife? If a person received a $100 dividend from his private corporation of which he is the sole shareholder, what you would declare as dividends on his personal tax return.
If you answered Yes, Yes and $100 dividend on Schedule 4, you answered all three incorrectly. But the software will allow you to make those claims. The correct answers are "Only if you have US income", No and $125 dividend on Schedule 4. And you can see why knowing the software is different than knowing tax.

Hello. Thank you for your prompt response. Please excuse me if I do not reply in the correct format. I am also learning about how to use your message board.
I know the answer to your first two questions, but would have been incorrect with the third one re dividends. I do have a trained accountant who is gong to review everything I prepare(forms) before the forms are signed or sent to CRA. I am largely asking to do this to help him with his heavy workload.
I would like to speak with someone who could help me understand if I can learn this program (given the correctness of the numbers). Is this a long learning curve?

you will not find any accountant this time of the year having the time and/or inclination to teach you...
you will have to teach yerself...
and if you are half as 'puter savvy as you say you are, that should take you less than a day...
but seeing that you are having trouble with a simple forum, I would say, spend the rest of the year learning how to use profile, and try again next season...

If you are simply entering prepared data such as T slips, my kids did that as early as 10 years of age. Copy Box 14 to Box 14 on the screen, Box 16 to 16, etc. Took five minutes to show them what was expected. While they were slower than other staff over the years, they were actually more accurate. With family income splitting, it was a good trade off.
