I had a user advise me that the detailed report was picking up incorrect numbers in the tax credit section in some situations. I've corrected that report and have attached an updated version of the spreadsheet. Please note that the calculation of the optimum pension income to split was NOT incorrect; just the detailed report showing the before and after situation (in some situations).

What version of Excel are you using and when does this error come up? Does it happen all the time or on just one file? You can PM me with more details if you want.

I just ran version 1a on 2007 and had no problem whatsoever.

Maybe Norm was running 2003.

That shouldn't be it since I use Excel 2003 and haven't had any problems so far.

I've noticed that VB written in Excel 2003 doesn't work well in Excel 2002 (not necessarily this program but others I've done ... it's ok, my wife uses Excel 2002).

If I get a chance I'll take a look at it.

Thank you again for the optimizer. Works great especially with the Hyperdoc feature on profile this year.

I don't use the Hyperdoc feature so I'm not following you. What makes it work well with the Hyperdoc feature? Do you mean that the report can get archived with the T1 file?

The optimizer is now working with my old Excel.

Nothing that I'm aware of except I'm sitting on a new chair!

Norm,

That must be some chair. A happy rear can make all the difference this time of year.

Watching Dunner's Pension Optimizer in action with a dual monitor system is seriously impressive. With the built-in optimizer you can't see it doing anything until it has finished the calculation. With Dunner's....... you can actually see it at work, if you keep an eye on the Profile data monitor while his optimizer does it's thing. My Profile data monitor looks like a NASA screen when his optimizer file is running.

I really don't want to be picky, but when I followed the instructions it didn't work. Unless my dyslexia is firing on all cylinders, I believe the instructions ought to read, "open the file of the transferor". Did that and it worked like a charm . . . Great program!

Yup, you're right, Jim. I've got my "ee" and "or" reversed. I'll get that right for next year's version.
