My computer died and I have a shiny new computer. I would love to leave Windog behind and just run Linux. Has anyone installed Profile under WINE or a Win emulator? What did you use and what was your experience? Have you heard of anyone successfully running Profile that way? I hope to avoid the Win installation of both Profile and QB.

I am currently running dual boot: Win XP Pro and Ubuntu.

We are having great success using virtual machines on the mac platform.

Good Luck, support runs away really quickly when they find out you are not on a WINTEL machine.

As they should, considering they are not supported platforms. :)

On the other hand, I do believe there was someone running it on an emulator besides Easter. Can't recall who it was though, maybe they still lurk on the forums.

Check out VMware.

It will run under Linux and emulates virtually any operating system. It emulates WinXP better than the genuine Microsoft Windows XP..... and considerably better than WINE.

Thanks for the responses. I will try VirtualBox and let everyone know how it works.

My husband installed Ubuntu and Virtual Box on my computer. I am running QuickBooks in Virtual Box. I will try running Profile in Virtual Box next year. At the moment I'm having a problem sharing data between Ubuntu and stuff created in the Virtual Box. I don't have time to diagnose that during tax season, oh well.
