I notice that files carried forward are being created in [type] 2006-2009 T2 rather than [type] 2007-2009 T2. Am I missing something here and what is the difference?

If the year end of the file being carried forward is before December 31, 2006 it should carry forward into the 2006-2009 module, any year ends after that should go to the 2007-2009 module.
If this is not doing this try running ProReg again, unregister the T2 modules (uncheck them) and reregister them(check them).

I'm running Profile T1 Basis ver 8.5.1 I'm trying to carry forward a 2008 T2 with a year end of May 31, 2008. The file carries forward to 2007-2009 OK, but I can't purchase a one-pay license . I get "the taxation year is not within the module's range." I've checked pro-reg to make sure T22009.dll is there and checked .
Help please

Does anyone know what is new/fixed on V2008.6.2 too?
We have just issued a new ProFile update. Version 2008.6.2 is now available to download.
This version corrects the following known issues in ProFile FX:
T3010B data loss - When an FX file created in version 2008.5.1 (or earlier) that uses form T3010B is opened in version 2008.6.0 (or 2008.6.1), data may be lost or altered on form T3010B - Registered Charity Information Return
T3010B calculations - When an FX return uses Schedule 6 of the T3010B, ProFile omits calculations to Steps 3 and 4: lines 41, 42, 50, and 53 of the T1259.
For details on these issues, read the What's Fixed section in the Update Summary (in ProFile, select Online > Update information > Update Summary).
Note: This version also corrects a T2 OnePay purchasing issue.
This software update is available only from our website.
