Below is a known issue with importing GIFI data. This has been a known issue since June 20/08. Is there some timeline for when known issues are fixed? I am doing a 2005 T2 and it is rather time consuming to have to enter all of the GIFI information manually.
Unable to import GIFI data to older ProFile T2 modules
Modules Affected:
Version: 2007.7.0
Date Posted: 6/20/2008 4:14:53 PM
Description: In ProFile version 2007.7.0, you will be unable to import a GIFI (.GFI) file into any module prior to the 2005-2007 module (with fiscal years starting before 2005/01/01). Specifically, this includes the following T2 modules (as it appears at the top of the Info form):
1996 - 1997 Corporate information
1997 - 2001 Corporate information
2001 - 2004 Corporate information
2004 - 2007 Corporate information
ProFile does not display any error messages; however, amounts do not populate in the GIFI forms included in these modules.
Workaround: You will need to manually enter the GIFI data until a next version of ProFile is available.

So when is this going to be resolved? We are now close to a year since you knew this was a problem. Do you understand that we buy your services to make our job easier? This is obviously not a big problem for a large number of users. However, this is something that used to work and now it does not. Is this the price we pay for keeping current with our software? Are you just waiting for this to get so old that it goes away? I could go on to tell you all of the things that I have to keep on top of. That's my job and I do it. I purchased your software to make my life easier not to continually have to follow all of your known issues and keep my staff apprised of them. Do you get that that is what you are there for?

Hi, we now have a workaround for this issue:
1. Open your T2 file in ProFile.
2. From the main menu, select Options > Environment > File tab. Verify that the Multiple Open Files option is checked.
3. Open a Windows Explorer window (double-click your My Computer icon).
4. Browse to the directory where you've stored your GIFI file.
5. Drag and drop the GIFI file into T2 return in the ProFile window.
ProFile will now import your GIFI information into your T2 return.
1. Open your T2 file in ProFile.
2. From the main menu, select Options > Environment > File tab. Verify that the Multiple Open Files option is checked.
3. Open a Windows Explorer window (double-click your My Computer icon).
