We're planning on using the Profile status listings more heavily this year (rather than our functional if inefficient physical-location-of file-for-status method).

On returns which are selected 'No' for eFile (i.e. paper file), the default 'EFILE Status' is "1. Not eligible"

It would make far more sense to have this read as "7. Paper filed" (which already exists).

Hopefully this can be implemented for next year, as it will make the filtering more sensible.

Not necessarily, as there are those accountants that do not set 'paper filed' as status until those returns have been signed and physically put into the 'outgoing mail to CRA' basket...

I like the in limbo default just as it is...

Can you set your default template to have particular statuses?

Personally, I do not use the efile status until the file status is set to Printed. Until then, the efile status isn't relevant. When the file status is Printed or Completed, the efile status (and EDI status) becomes more important.

Client status, yes,
EFile status, no

That's possible I guess, but why keep track of paper files via EFILE status? It would seem to me that most users would not use it in this manner.

Because that is where, in their wisdom, they have put that status. Suppose they should rename their "Efile status" to "Filing Status", to be technically correct...

(But then I have a long list of program improvement suggestions that take priority over that niggly little wording thing...

(Such as my tax prep checklist, for instance)

I like the present system of "Status" without changing any of the names.

Some are "Waiting For Client", while others are "Paper Filed" etc.

For me, in my one man operation, with only one place to look for the client status, it "works" just fine as it is.

That is my view.

Ciao!

Skuj,

Hey what ever happened to wanting a 'on-time', 'accurate', 'WORKING' product.

You have only been here for a couple of seasons, (maybe you should research the '95 filing with Cantax) and stop asking for anything!

I want tax preparation software, not practise management software!

Easter.

Easter.

Did you have to remind me?

It has only been 13 years, and, I still get nightmares!

Ciao!

Perhaps I should point out that TaxPrep (used for bankruptcy tax returns) prepared the T1032 forms incorrectly this year. ProFile however, did them correctly but it was too late to fix.
