Ontario MGS Schedule A Can it be printed?

Is there any way to print this form?

For years now I have never been able to print the MGS schedule A from using F12 or the Print Single Form menu. This software bug has never been a big deal until recently..... now that we are being requested to provide documentation confirming officers & signing authority for some of the newly submitted RC59's.

The only condition in which the MGS Schedule A appears to print is under the print entire return option and only if you have selected "yes" to the question "Any change to Director/Officer/Administrator information previously submitted to MGS" in the T2 info screen. Having to print an entire tax return in order to obtain this 1 or 2 page schedule seems to be a bit of a waste.

Hi Snowplowguy:

This is as designed, in order to get certification from the Ontario ministry we have had to control how the portions of the jacket are printed - and this 'form' is part of the CT23 jacket (notice the page numbers). You don't need to print the entire return to get this, but you will need to print the CT23 jacket.

Thanks Carl...... good to hear from you.

I understand what you are saying..... and yes.... as far as the Ministry is concerned these pages form part of the jacket. However, they are not set up as part of the jacket by the software. The software considers it to be a separate form.

What this means is if I jump to the CT23s or CT23 and F12 the CT23 the MGS pages (which is part of that form) do not get printed at all. If I jump to the MGS and F12 that form..... it will not print either (error message).

No..... you can not get the MGS schedule by printing the CT23 jacket.

It seems impossible to form print the MGS schedule either by itself or as part of the CT23 unless you go through the motions of printing the tax return which would include all of the schedules.

I have only been able to come up with one sloppy workaround and that is to set up a separate print set which only includes the MGS schedule. In the Form selection I set up print set #5 and called it MGS. Then I went into the CT23 paper and deselected everything for print set 5 except for the MGSAPrint#1 form. Now I can do a Print return (Control-P) and uncheck all of the print sets except for 5-MGS (Displays as CT23 Paper for MGS). This will at least print the MGS by itself without any other pages (provided you have answered "yes" to the question "Any change to Director/Officer/Administrator information previously submitted to MGS" in the T2 info screen).

I am sharing the same frustration as Snowplowguy at the current time. It doesn't want to print as part of the CT23 Short Jacket and it won't let me print it separately.

Followup: In this instance, I noticed subsequently that the "No Change" box was checked.

That is correct...... the Ministry does not want you to include pages 7 through whatever if there are no changes to the directors or officers...... so they do not print.

From a programmer's point of view I can see the problem and why Intuit have the MGS set up as a separate form.

If no changes to officers/directors --> print a 6 page CT23s
else
if there are changes to officers/directors ---> print a 7 or 8 page CT23s.

It is easier for the developers to break these last pages off of the CT23 and have them print as a separate form if necessary.

My problem is I have been asked by the CRA to send them a MGSA schedule. Printing them out a copy seemed like a simple enough task at the time. :lol:

Oh well........ I guess in another 6 months it won't matter anyway...... as the CT23 becomes an extinct animal.

You're right, setting up a separate print job will work, but as you've probably noticed, it's a bit time-consuming to set up (and it takes up a print set that you might want to use for other things.) As you've noted, you can only print the MGSA by choosing to print the entire return (File > Print from the menu or Ctrl-P) while the 'Changes to Directors...' question is set to 'Yes'. However, there is another way to print only the MGSA.

Once the Print Selection screen appears, first remove the check marks from any other print jobs that may be selected (e.g. T2 Paper), leaving only CT23 paper selected. Make sure you highlight the CT23 paper print job when you're done.

Next, switch to the Advanced view, if you are not already displaying it. Do this by clicking on the 'Advanced' button in the lower left corner (if the button says 'Simplified' you are already in the Advanced view and do not need to click anything.)

You should now be seeing the list of CT23 forms in a large white box on the lower right side of the screen. Right-click anywhere in this white area, and select Clear All from the little menu that appears. This will deselect all forms in all print sets. Now simply check the MGSA form check box in any valid print set, and click the Print button. Presto! A single MGSA form, without having to print anything else.

I hope that helps!
