Old Exchange rate for Brazil

Clients sold an apt bldg located in Brazil in 2007. It was bought in 1995. They became Canadian tax residents in June, 1996. I need the June/96 or 1996 average annual exchange rate for Brazil and the Bank of Canada site only goes back to 1997.

Does anyone have that information from back then? Does anyone know if a call to the Bank of Canada tomorrow will result in obtaining that information?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

(1997 rate was 1.2797)

June 30, 1996 - Real to CDN 1 to 1.359, useful FX site I use is www.oanda.com
