Hello Everybody,
I would like to take a moment of your time to introduce myself and the services i have to offer. I have been running a technical solutions company here in Toronto for the past 7 Years, and have recently been introduced to assisting companies with their QuickBooks start up. In January, one of my clients contacted me because they were migrating from Sage's MAS90 software to Quickbooks Enterprise Solutions. They were able to start up a new company file, configure the company info, users, and permissions, without any problems. When it came time to import the data from the excel files that they created by running a few reports, they realized that QuickBooks had limited support for importing from excel. Using the Quickbooks import utility they were able to import their customers, inventory items, vendors, and chart of accounts. A roadblock presented itself when my client wanted to import their Open AR invoices and sales orders. They did not feel to spend time learning how to convert their 250,000 excel lines of data into IIF format, and after browsing a few forums, neither did I.
The easy way out was for me to create a program that would assist me with importing data directly into the QuickBooks interface without having to modify the data beforehand. After a few hours, my program successfully imported all of the transactions. I will list below the services that i have automated for my client.
1. Imported the additional Ship-To addresses for all of the customers.
2. Imported Open AR invoices into a customized invoice template from excel
3. Imported Sales Order Transactions into a customized sales order template from two excel files. (One for the Sales Order Details, the other contained the by line data)
4. Imported Invoice History for the last 2 years into customized invoice templates from two excel files. (One for invoice details, the other for the by line data)
4.a) My client wanted to have a special field populated based on the type of order (Prescription or Non-Perscription), so my program performed a lookup in another excel file on-the-fly and updated the field with the proper type.
5. Renamed the entire customer list. This company sells to both US and Canada, so they wanted to have Canadian customers renamed to 00-(Customer Name) and US customers renamed to 10-(Customer Name).
6. Created a job under each customer for each ship-to address listed as they were drop shipment addresses.
As you can see, the sky is really the limit for what I am able to do. Feel free to post a reply with any questions, but i prefer that you contact me at TheQBImporter@gmail.com so that i will be alerted via my BlackBerry. I will add posts to this thread as I answer your questions via email.
Regards,
Shawn F.

James, at issue here is that I find this a useful post.
Our forum mods seem to want to hide it in the QB 'Introduce your business', and are refusing to pin it.
So am just giving it a little more visibility.
This service could potentially be of benefit to the hoards of people wanting to import transactions into Quickbooks
Perhaps also there is a data transfer angle here from software such as Simply Accounting....
