I sent a PM to Bert and another separate PM to Gordon@intuit.
Both messages have somehow been deleted from my messenger centre.
I cannot therefore use the message tracker to see if my messages have been read.

Hey Nick.... your PM's are not being deleted.
When you send PM's the default forum setting is to not save them in your sentbox. If you want to save your sent messages as well as the ability to track them you have to manually check off the Add a copy of this message to my sent items folder and Track this message boxes down near the bottom of the compose message screen (just above the send button).
Most forum software automatically saves your sent PM's but Invision doesn't.
When you send PM's the default forum setting is to not save them in your sentbox. If you want to save your sent messages as well as the ability to track them you have to manually check off the Add a copy of this message to my sent items folder and Track this message boxes down near the bottom of the compose message screen (just above the send button).
Most forum software automatically saves your sent PM's but Invision doesn't.
