Hardware Upgrades?

Am contemplating upgrading my hardware to a multo core processor amchine. Have been warned that some data heavy programs such as Profile may actually work slooooooower on a multi cor eprocessor machione. Any ideas or thoughts?

(However, more of an issue is if you decide to install 64-bit OS, since some older s/w and h/w may not work properly, due to scarcity in some areas of 64-bit drivers, so useful to maintain at least one 32-bit OS machine...)

Running Quad core, fast when combined with other programs, only issue is Vista, I should have gone with Vista Ultimate., otherwise, it is hot hot hot.
