A client has given me a couple of data files with .tax suffixes; he says they contain his 2006 tax info, and they were created when he did his return "online"; with what, I'm not sure. Profile seems unable to open them; any one have an idea how I might read these?

Give them back to him, and tell him to throw away his own trash. :P
Then find the nearest mirror, and ask:
"Should I really be charging more than $1 for preparing tax returns?"

Just one guestion Joe - are you also an arrogant smart-ass with your clients, assuming you have any? Or do you spend all you time making useless postings on bulletin boards?

.tax files are e-file files.
any tax software makes them, but cant read them.
as Joe says, they are trash.

And this is from a poster who in 2007 earns money from charging clients for producing ".tax" files but posts a question asking what they are...
