I have been doing a lot of research into universities and Accounting Associations in the last while. Finally decided to jump the broom and apply to Athabasca University for the Bachelor of Commerce Degree - post diploma with a major in Accounting, and to the CGA - Alberta Association. I have a few details to work out, but it sounds like I can get my degree and complete most of the CGA courses at the same time. I will need to complete two business cases and the Pace level courses after my degree. If I understand correctly, this means I will be able to receive my designation in 3 or 4 years. I need to verify my yearly tuition with the CGA as I will be a full-time student at AU for most of the next 2 years. To those of you who have your designations, have the associations actively assisted your career progression?
