Canada Revenue Agency offers new electronic tool to help businesses
Ottawa, Ontario, February 14, 2007…The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is pleased to offer a new product that will benefit both small businesses and individuals – a CD-ROM that showcases electronic services for businesses and self-employed individuals that are available on the CRA website.
“There is a need for this type of resource tool,” noted the Honourable Carol Skelton, Minister of National Revenue. “Small business owners have told me that government forms and information services must become simpler and easier to use.”
“There is a vast amount of information and great services available on the Canada Revenue Agency website, but many small businesses do not know what is available to them. This tool simplifies the search for information by providing an overview of relevant business topics and services,” said Minister Skelton.
The CD-ROM is roughly the size of a business card, but it contains a wealth of information. The CD uses text, narration, and animation to link to the information and electronic services available on the CRA website. Topics range from starting a business, to keeping books and records, to filing options and the due dates for various returns and payments. It connects users directly to the CRA’s electronic services for businesses, including Corporation Internet Filing, Information Returns Electronic Filing, Business Registration On-line, on-line calculators, and more.
The CRA is an acknowledged leader in electronic services. The Agency is committed to providing Canadian businesses, taxpayers and their representatives with better, more efficient and effective services that are convenient and easy to use.
For more information on the “Electronic Services for Businesses and Individuals” CD-ROM, small businesses can contact the CRA’s Business Enquiries line at 1-800-959-5525 (English) or 1-800-959-7775 (French).
