Good day all.

My firm has several hundred existing T1 clients. This year, we wanted to email each of them a unique (Profile generated) T1013 with the name, firm, etc. info filled in in anticipation of using ePass this season (for those who follow that mess), and generated a suitable email template to deliver such a document.

Besides forms, we would use this process for many other functions, such as client letter mail-outs, providing PDF returns, etc.

That said, Profile includes the option to generate a PDF, and export it to a new email message using the email field on 'Info' (in text-only mode, but I digress). Obviously, one would expect that if you can print to email for a single client, one could do it for the bunch... Profile even has the option built in.

To our disappointment, after many trials, no combination of options would enable us to batch print these forms.

Emailing Profile on the subject:

The response ultimately being:

Anybody else find this to be stupid? How much time and money could we save with this simple feature?

Just figured I would reply to the above. (and have some fun too!)

The last question was for Snowplowguy!

I would not want to be accused of discrimination again.

In the end, I must question why Intuit is trying to add these features... ProFile isn't a contact manager. We use it as such, but perhaps it would be better to work out an interface with a fuller featured contact manager like MS Outlook or Sage Act where the contact information may be transferred from ProFile to the other system with minimal interface and also allow the other system to include ProFile Generated Attachments to contacts.

At this time, for each client I am entering contact information into three separate systems. ProFile, Outlook and Simply Accounting. Now I understand why there isn't an interface between SA and ProFile as the manufacturers are competitors. But why no interface between Outlook and ProFile. Outlook will send emails on request from ProFile but we can't take the extra step of adding or correcting contacts? I use the Business Contact Manager in Outlook and have a "Do not contact" ability in there. I find the amount of duplication to be frustrating but I live with it.

Are you sure that Profile doen't want to be a contact manager? Last time I looked at the client explorer database I could up load pictures of all my clients etc. I do not use profile as my contact manager either since I do not need profile for my government clients . Not to mention there are better programs for that as you already pointed out.

I responded to the original message with this poll was the comment that Profile did not want to contribute to worlds spam by allowing accountants to use a batch email feature and email their clients.

Just an aside, these polls could be very helpful for the suggestion box. If a person added a suggestion they could add the poll to see itf the other members agree. The problem of course is getting the users to vote.
