OK.. I'm Dave and will make this a somewhat more serious response ((:-)).
I run a one person personal income tax preparation service in the National Capital Region. I am not a CA but have gotten quite skilled at income tax preparation. One problem which is inevitable in this business is its seasonal nature. When I'm not doing taxes I have worked part time at jobs involving the telephone (sort of like telemarketing). As my business has grown I'm hoping someday to only do the tax stuff.
In three years I have what I think is a nice little business with well over 100 clients....
Really like being self-employed after working for nearly 3 decades for another employer from which I retired in 2001.

Hello, all. My name is Lee, I operate a small, one person tax preparation office in central Alberta. I'm not sure what you classify as a professional, however, I have been preparing personal, small business, and farm income tax returns for 13 years, I have a core clientel of about 110, several clients who drop in (usually within the last few days before their due dates ;) ,and I volunteer with the CVITP program. As far as my degree.... AgBus(F), I just never got around to continuing on to my CA courses, I joined the Forces instead! Now I am disabled, so this is my main activity for the year ;) . Most of my clients are low income, or particularly difficult files that I prepare for friends, rather than send them to "Horror and Rotten" :P .

Ok I will keep this going.
I own a small accounting and tax preparation business that I started in May of this year.
I mainly use and support QuickBooks, but have to support Simply Accounting from time to time :o .
This will be my first year using Profile for T1, on my own anyway I have used it in the past for both Corporate and Personal

In four years of income tax preparation I have what I think a nice little business with over 200 clients...last year I also started preparing T2 returns... mind you only a handful of them and most were final T2 returns for inactive corporations whose owners wished to dissolve their corporations.

And we keep wishing for mandatory licensing of tax preparers....

Did you also do the other things required to dissolve those corporations, or did you simply file the final T2???
.....cause if you only filed a terminal T2 return, you'll find a notice to file for next year when you don't.
Dissolving a corporation is both a legal and tax filing step, and you've only done a fraction of what needs doing ....
