I have not but I bet that the PDF archive function is still broken. That is due to the PDF archive uses a driver which is incompatible with Vista and later editions of windows.

Can anyone point me to any support documentation on windows 7 on the profile site. It seems amazing that I can not find anything on it.

The PDF printing is working, I had to call in to support, I deleted one file, and presto, everything works, running Vista 64 and 32.

Has any one tested Profile with Windows 7 32 or 64 bit? We have been running it here on two Windows 7 32 bit machines, and have another 64 bit I will likely be trying it on shortly. So far no issues for us. If you are upgrading get an Intel (second generation) SSD to speed up the entire experience. |

Just spoke to sales about Windows 7 support and they do NOT currently support it and could not commit to support being in place by tax season. As my computer desperately needs to be replaced, and Windows 7 makes sense as part of my new system, I hope I don't have any ProFile issues. Or maybe I should look at TaxPrep. Anyone know if TaxPrep has Windows 7 support or expects to by tax season? -------------------- <>< <>< <>< <>< <><

My PDF Archive function is still not working. I found the article to delete and reinstall the PDF printer but I can't reinstall as the .bat file isn't working. -------------------- For this communication, together with the work done to prepare this communication, I accept and assume responsibility only to the party who retained me to prepare this communication and as specified in the relevant engagement contract. ProFile Support has been successfully running ProFile on a Windows 7 (ultimate) 32 bit, network environment with XP and Vista 64.
At this point in time we haven't tested the full functionality of ProFile in Windows 7 environment yet. Officially we are not supporting Windows 7 at this time, but will try to assist you as much as possible with any issues that you may have with Windows 7. Once testing is completed in that environment, then we will support Windows 7. It is my suggestion that if you are upgrading to Windows 7 then buy at the minimum the Windows 7 Business Edition. As for any PDF issues, please do not hesitate to contact us in support, and we will be happy to assist you. |

OK, I sent off an email to support saying, "I have been unable to use the PDF archive printing in Profile since I upgraded to Vista earlier this year. I have followed the instructions on the support web pages for “Printer not activated” error code 41 and successfully delete the Profile PDF printer but the installPDF.bat only gives me an “Arguments not valid” error when I run it and allow it to run through UAC. Apparently there is a fix to this according to your community support board." The web page says that there will be a response within 1 business day. I prefer email support to phone call support anyway. -------------------- For this communication, together with the work done to prepare this communication, I accept and assume responsibility only to the party who retained me to prepare this communication and as specified in the relevant engagement contract. Tim, I sent you a personal resopnse, I am running Vista 64 & 32. Call in Ask for Jo ( Joaanne ) she will walk you through the steps 1-2-3 and done. The email fax help program has never worked from day one as far as I am concerned..
Call Jo, I wish I had written down the steps, it is such an easy fix. It is an 1-800 number -------------------- D N Blue

Close Profile Go to the printers folder.. delete Profile PDF Export Right click on the Profile Icon >Open File Location Open the PRofile PDF Export folder Run the INstall.exe program - I would recommend right clicking on it and running it as administrator. This should work for you. If it doesn't work, then let me know. I would probably need to talk to you. Jo Hi David. =) |

Al replied with the same fix that Jo posted today and it worked. -------------------- For this communication, together with the work done to prepare this communication, I accept and assume responsibility only to the party who retained me to prepare this communication and as specified in the relevant engagement contract. I just upgraded to Windows 7 32bit version. Profile seems to load very fast and I have not encountered any problems.
In fact the load speed now is pretty impressive, compared to before. I am not sure why Profile is not supporting Windows 7 yet. The Beta came out in January and the whole world started their testing then. Most companies have their new drivers out and new software issued. It seems Profile was slow out of the gate on this one, really no excuse. This is part of the industry, testing and keeping up with new OS releases. In fact all my techs say there is less issues all round and less compatibility issues than Vista. In fact if there is a compatibility issue the work around in the short term is the Virtual Windows XP module in Windows 7. I expect better from Profile than to be beaten by TaxPrep on this one. I brag to my clients I pay top dollar for the Top software....maybe I was wrong. I think I pay top dollar for the second best software. -------------------- Tim Manery
